Cleans, refurbishes, and restores automobiles—new, used, and customer-owned—while consistently adhering to dealership and manufacturer specifications and time allowances.

Essential duties include the following, with the possibility of being assigned additional tasks.

  • This service includes cleaning the vehicle’s exterior, washing both interior and exterior windows, and wiping down doorjambs.
  • Wax is applied to the auto body, followed by buffing to enhance the surface’s shine.
  • The interior of vehicles is vacuumed to remove dirt and debris.
  • Upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces are cleaned with appropriate cleaning agents, tools, and devices.
  • Interior vinyl or leather surfaces are treated with revitalizers and preservatives, while fabrics are protected with spot-and stain-resistant chemicals.
  • The engine and engine compartment are cleaned using steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.
  • Special-purpose cleaners are used to remove tough substances that standard cleaning can’t handle, with careful adherence to product manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Vehicles are inspected for visible defects such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical performance.
  • The appearance of the engine area, carpets, upholstery, and painted surfaces is restored using touch-up paint, dyes, and other appropriate materials.
  • Proper protective gear is used when handling products that require precautions.
  • Dressings are applied to tires and wheel wells.
  • The correct stickers are placed on the vehicle’s window.
  • The work area is kept clean and organized.
  • All tools and equipment are operated safely.
  • Any safety issues are reported to management immediately.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • One year certificate from college or technical school
  • Or three to six months related experience or training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds
  • Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations
