Cleans, refurbishes, and restores new, used, and customer automobiles, consistently adhering to dealership and manufacturer specifications and time allowances.

Essential duties are as follows. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Cleans the exterior of the vehicle, washes the interior and exterior windows, and wipes down the doorjambs.
  • Applies wax to the auto body and buffs the surface.
  • Vacuums the interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.
  • Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces using suitable cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
  • Applies revitalizers and preservation agents to the interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot-and stain-resistant chemicals.
  • Cleans the engine and engine compartment using steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.
  • Applies special-purpose cleaners to remove substances that standard cleaning procedures don’t eliminate, drawing on experience and judgment and adhering to the recommendations of product manufacturers.
  • Inspects vehicles for obvious defects like dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and suboptimal mechanical operation.
  • Restores the appearance of the engine area, carpets, upholstery, and painted surfaces using touch-up paint, dyes, and other suitable materials.
  • Utilizes appropriate eye, hand, and body protection when handling products that necessitate such precautions.
  • Applies dressings to tires and wheel wells.
  • Ensures the correct stickers are displayed on the vehicle’s window.
  • Maintains a tidy and orderly work area.
  • Safely operates all tools and equipment.
  • Promptly reports any safety concerns to management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • One year certificate from college or technical school
  • Or three to six months related experience or training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds
  • Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations
