Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a High School Diploma or G.E.D., along with 18 months of specialized training in Diesel Technology and power systems from an accredited institution or program.
  • Requires two (2) years of hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic within the past five (5) years.
  • Previous work with transit agencies or trucking fleets is highly desirable.
  • If formal training is lacking, a minimum of three (3) years of journey-level experience in maintaining transit buses, over-the-road coaches, or medium-duty trucks within the last five (5) years is acceptable.
  • Candidates with verified prior experience must successfully complete a written and/or practical assessment aligned with the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities outlined in the selection criteria below.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Class “A” or “B” CDL from Oregon or Washington, including a Passenger Endorsement and no airbrake restrictions, and meet TriMet’s driving record standards upon review.
  • Position is Union, Non-Exempt, Regular, Full-Time, with a starting wage of at least $43.83/hour.
