Our dealership is actively seeking an experienced Automotive General Manager who is goal-driven and proficient in overseeing all dealership operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of success in sales, finance, and customer service within the automotive sector. The role requires exceptional servant leadership skills, strategic planning abilities, and a commitment to boosting profitability while ensuring high customer satisfaction.

Annual expected earnings greater than $500,000.

Compensation and Benefits:

The General Manager position offers a compensation package that features a competitive monthly salary of $6,000, in addition to 1.5% of the store’s gross revenue and an extra 10% of the store’s net profit.

A minimum of two years’ experience as an Automotive General Manager is required.

Paid Time Off (PTO):

Our company prioritizes work-life balance and offers competitive paid time off (PTO) benefits. New full-time employees earn four hours of PTO per pay period, totaling about 96 hours in the first year, with gradual increases in subsequent years.

General Manager Responsibilities: 

  • Manages overall store operations to enhance profitability.
  • Oversees daily operating controls, suggesting improved strategies as needed.
  • Directs and supervises dealership management and staff, evaluating managerial performance.
  • Meets monthly with owners to assess departmental performance.
  • Collaborates with managers to establish monthly and yearly goals, reviewing actual performance.
  • Provides the dealer with accurate reports on the dealership’s financial status.
  • Ensures monthly financial data is comprehensive and accurate.
  • Builds strong relationships with financial institutions and manufacturers.
  • Communicates management policies and procedures to all staff, ensuring understanding and adherence.
  • Provides dynamic leadership to shape employee attitudes and improve morale.
  • Holds regular management meetings to ensure departmental efficiency and profitability.
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and motivates all department managers at the dealership.
  • Evaluates all training requests, approving those aligned with the dealership’s goals for professional and technical development, and assesses their effectiveness.
  • Reviews and approves compensation plans for all employees.
  • Works with the business office to maintain accurate records and analyses.
  • Develops merchandising strategies and aids in creating cost-effective advertising programs.
  • Addresses customer complaints that department managers cannot resolve.
  • Ensures all direct reports comply with company and factory policies.
  • Monitors store expenses.

General Manager Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2 years of Automotive General Manager experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of dealership operations.
  • 5 years proven prior performance as a top-level manager at a franchised auto dealership preferred.
  • Demonstrated forward thinking, positive, and progressive leadership style.
  • Demonstrated strong ethical composition; oversee and enforce company policies, procedures, and corporate culture.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other General Managers and Corporate Office Management and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle HR related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict between employees and customers.
  • Excellent communication skills (including listening, speaking).
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work alone, self-motivate and manage one’s own time. Physical ability to use computer hardware/software and demonstrated computer literacy (MS Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook, ADP, CDK, HR systems).
  • Organized and extremely detail and deadline oriented.
