Summary/Objective

The Service Technician is responsible for comprehensive service on vehicles at the dealership. This crucial role guarantees that customers receive quality service on their vehicles, fostering high customer satisfaction and ensuring the safety and comfort of their vehicles, which contributes to sustained patronage. Compensation for this role is commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions

  • We conduct general repair and replacement services, including brake pads and shoes, tires, wheel alignment, steering and suspension components, wheel bearings, exhaust systems, heating and cooling systems, air conditioning, drivetrain, and accessory installations.
  • We perform maintenance services such as oil changes, fluid exchanges, filter replacements, fuel system services, preventative maintenance, and belt and hose replacements.
  • Our evaluation services include charging system analysis, brake inspections, fluid leak evaluations, and tire pressure and tread depth readings.
  • We conduct visual safety and courtesy inspections and diagnostic services for emissions control systems, drivability issues, overheating, ABS and SRS systems, and electrical and air conditioning systems. Advanced repair and replacement services cover timing belts, intake manifold gaskets, head gaskets, brake hydraulics, rear main seals, clutches, axle bearings, steering gears, sensors, switches, and modules.
  • We adhere to factory specifications as the standard for all repair, service, and customization work.
  • Our goal is 100% productivity, and we strive to maintain that standard.
  • We receive service assignments from the service writer or manager and ensure repair work is completed within the designated time.
  • We set goals, develop skills, and constantly improve efficiency levels.
  • Parts requests are submitted promptly once job requirements are determined.
  • We keep the service writer or manager updated on any additional work needed or any delays, ensuring customers receive timely information.
  • We assist service advisors in writing work orders, conducting test rides, interacting with customers, and in any other way to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Proper paperwork is completed and filed after each job, and we maintain our technical qualifications.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in an automotive related technician/mechanic role.
  • High School or GED preferred
  • ASE certification In all makes and models a plus
  • Master Diagnostic/ MDT Hybrid Tech Certification a plus
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License, clean driving history
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and processes, and adapt to change
  • Ability to innovate, solve complex issues, and present new ideas
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Experience working in a team-based environment and achieving common goals
  • Evidence of a “safety first” attitude
  • Basic command of the English language
  • Basic computer skills, including navigating web browsers and using standard applications

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

In the course of performing their duties, employees frequently work in proximity to moving mechanical parts. They may also be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electric shock on occasion. Standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, are routinely used in this role.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time role. The typical workdays and hours are determined by the dealership’s requirements.

Note: Work schedules may change. Whenever feasible, a two-week notice will be given for any changes in the schedule.

Travel: There may be occasional travel required for training purposes or to provide assistance at other dealership locations.
