Automotive Custodian – Essential Duties

• This role involves cleaning service and customer areas, performing routine building maintenance to minimize disruptions, and washing all windows, glass doors, and panels in the service area.
• The responsibilities also include mopping and cleaning the service waiting area, offices, technicians’ locker room, lunchroom, halls, and shop bathroom.
• Additionally, sweeping technician stalls, service department, body shop floors, showroom, halls, and vending areas is required.
• The job entails cleaning signs, posters, mirrors, fans, and vending machines, maintaining hot beverage areas by cleaning counters and restocking supplies, and ensuring bathrooms are clean and well-stocked with paper supplies.
• Daily tasks include cleaning showroom vehicles and displays, maintaining the driveway and sidewalks, and removing weeds and debris.
• The role also requires cleaning forklifts and shop equipment, removing debris from the lot, maintaining yard equipment and cleaning supplies, cleaning oil storage tanks as per procedures, and properly disposing of used oil filters.
• Old scrap parts must be removed from the shop after confirmation with the parts manager and technician, and cores returned to the storage area.
• Assistance with oil and water spills, emptying mop buckets, and running errands as directed by the service manager is also part of the job.
• Proper protection must be used when handling products that require it, and other assigned tasks must be completed, including removing dirt and debris from new and used lot inventory.

Automotive Custodian – Qualifications

For successful job performance, an individual must satisfactorily execute each essential duty. The requirements listed below exemplify the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Automotive Custodian – Education and/or Experience

• No prior experience or training.
• Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid drivers license required

Automotive Custodian – Language Skills

• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
