Position Summary: The sales representative for new and used vehicles is responsible for the sales of both new and pre-owned cars. The role involves ensuring customer satisfaction, generating leads, and achieving monthly sales goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Customer Interaction and Needs Assessment: Assist customers in selecting a vehicle by asking targeted questions and actively listening to their responses. Greet customers entering the showroom or sales lot, offering assistance or direction.
  • Sales and Delivery: Achieve a set sales target by selling and delivering a minimum number of vehicles each month. Meet the transportation needs of both new and used vehicle buyers.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay informed about new products, features, and accessories. Explain product performance, applications, benefits, and all optional equipment to potential buyers. Understand and explain vehicle equity, values, and depreciation.
  • Test Drives and Demonstrations: Offer test drives to all interested customers, following dealership protocols for identification verification. Demonstrate a high commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Legal and Ethical Compliance: Comply with federal, state, and local laws related to retail auto sales. Conduct business ethically and professionally.
  • Sales Goals and Strategy: Set personal income goals aligned with dealership productivity standards and strategize to meet these goals.
  • Sales Process Management: Ensure the sales manager meets each customer. Turn all closed deals over to the F&I manager with complete paperwork including insurance information and trade titles. Write and process complete sales orders according to dealership policies.
  • Vehicle Delivery and Customer Onboarding: Prepare vehicles for delivery, explain operating features, warranty, and all paperwork to the customer. Introduce customers to the service department, emphasizing the quality of service repairs and maintenance.
  • Post-Sale Follow-Up: Follow up on delivery items like tag/title work, “we-owes,” and special requests to meet customer expectations. Maintain an owner follow-up system for repeat and referral business, and schedule the first service appointment for new purchasers.
  • System Utilization: Use the dealership’s sales control and follow-up systems effectively.
  • Self-Improvement and Analysis: Regularly review and analyze daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly actions to improve time management and planning. Continuously enhance product and sales knowledge to become an authority on the vehicles sold, including optional packages and new technologies.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.

  • Candidates should demonstrate knowledge in the area of automotive sales and possess advanced computer skills, particularly with Reynolds and Reynolds software.
  • Understanding and maintaining confidentiality is essential, as is the ability to comprehend and adhere to work rules, policies, and procedures.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
