Required Education/Skills/Abilities

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in sales or customer service.
  • While automotive sales experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory.

  • Dedication and reliability are essential.
  • A clean driving record is necessary, along with the ability to pass drug screening and a background check.
  • Basic knowledge of computers, printers, and monitors is also required.

Summary/Objective

The role of an Internet Product Specialist involves identifying and aiding customers via internet leads, delivering outstanding customer service, and crafting a memorable car purchasing experience. These specialists are tasked with ensuring seamless transactions that foster the utmost customer satisfaction, encouraging repeat business for years to follow.

Essential Functions

  • Respond promptly to internet inquiries to meet client needs effectively.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all dealership products, inventory, and services.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by creating a friendly environment, greeting and recognizing every customer, upholding high standards, and maintaining in-depth product knowledge.
  • Take direct responsibility for selling vehicles and meeting the dealership’s customer satisfaction and volume standards.
  • Work with the sales manager to establish and achieve new and used sales quotas and fulfill vehicle sales profit margin goals.
  • Offer polite and prompt greetings to customers. Adhere consistently to the defined sales process.
  • Make efficient use of floor time to address customer needs and promote sales.
  • Determine each customer’s vehicle needs by asking questions and listening.
  • Demonstrate and test drive vehicles.
  • Verify that customers are qualified for their wants, needs, and ability to buy.
  • Maintain current knowledge and familiarity with new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers.
  • Maintain an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Understand the terminology of the automobile business and keep abreast of technology changes in the product.
  • Perform pre-delivery inspection and road test before delivery to customer.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers after purchase. This process ensures that the customer understand the vehicle’s operating features, warranty and paperwork, and it lays the foundation for customer loyalty.
  • Conduct telephone transactions courteously and promptly.
  • Move and arrange display vehicles on showroom and on lot as directed by management.
  • Deal with customer complaints in a sensible manner by showing empathy and a pleasant attitude to show our commitment to excellent customer service and to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Know and understand the federal, state and local laws, which govern retail auto sales.
  • Attend pertinent training and stay current with sales department concerns and sales techniques.
  • Attend sales meetings.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner, immediately reporting any accidents, injuries or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Shows when scheduled to work, on time, ready and able to perform essential job functions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Work Environment

This role is dynamic, involving work throughout the dealership, including time spent outdoors, inside the showroom, and at a desk. It regularly involves the use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel is not often required for this position.  There may be occasional travel to pick up or deliver vehicles from other locations.
