Automotive Salesperson Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance or assistance to any customer who walks into the dealership.
  • Support customers in their purchasing decisions by asking relevant questions and carefully listening to their needs and preferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and customers to build relationships and improve the sales process.
  • Describe product performance, applications, and benefits to potential buyers.
  • Communicate with the Sales Manager about goals, planned activities, reviews, and analyses.
  • Foster long-term relationships and loyal customers by helping them choose a vehicle through attentive questioning and listening.
  • Serve as the vehicle expert with comprehensive knowledge of product offerings, optional packages, and the latest technology.
  • Conduct professional and high-quality demonstrations of both new and used vehicles.
  • Follow up with buyers to ensure repeat business and referrals.
  • Master the art of overcoming objections and excelling in sales situations.
  • Report directly to the Sales Manager concerning objectives, planned activities, reviews, and analyses.

Automotive Salesperson Qualifications

  • Previous automotive sales experience is required, with a preference for Toyota.
  • Must be flexible with hours and available to work weekends.
  • Bring enthusiasm and high energy throughout the workday.
  • Friendly and competitive personality, particularly when addressing objections and negotiating prices.
  • Strong skills in customer service, communication, computing, and basic math.
  • Interested in training new sales associates and collaborating within a team environment.
  • Technologically adept.
  • Preferred candidates will have a self-starter mentality and ambitious spirit.
  • Eager to swiftly learn new product details and continuously improve.
  • Excellent communication skills with both customers and team members.
  • Professional and well-groomed appearance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must own a personal smartphone (iPhone, Android, etc.) for work-related tasks.
  • This position involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions and requires remaining stationary (e.g., on our sales lot) for up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to move inside and outside the facility to access vehicles, file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicate with customers and coworkers about our products and services, ensuring clear and accurate written and verbal communication.
