Anderson Auto seeks a seasoned heavy diesel technician to become a part of our dedicated team. The heavy diesel tech will handle general repairs and part replacements on heavy diesel vehicles. This critical role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our business.

Essential Functions

  • Executes a range of repairs and replacements, such as brake pads, tires, wheel alignment, steering and suspension parts, wheel bearings, exhaust systems, HVAC systems, air conditioning, drivetrains, and accessory installations.
  • Provides maintenance services like oil changes, fluid exchanges, filter changes, fuel system services, preventative maintenance, and belt and hose replacements.
  • Conducts evaluations, including charging system tests, brake inspections, fluid leak assessments, tire pressure checks, and tread depth readings.
  • Completes visual safety and courtesy checks.
  • Delivers diagnostic services covering emission systems, drivability concerns, overheating issues, ABS and SRS systems, and electrical and air conditioning diagnostics.
  • Performs advanced repairs such as timing belts, intake and head gaskets, brake hydraulics, rear main seals, clutches, axle bearings, steering gears, sensors, switches, and modules.
  • Follows factory specifications for all repair, service, and customization work.
  • Aims to maintain productivity levels close to 100%.
  • Receives and prioritizes assignments from service writers or managers.
  • Ensures completion of repairs within the specified time.
  • Sets personal goals, hones skills, and strives for increased efficiency.
  • Submits part requests promptly once job requirements are identified.
  • Updates the service writer or manager about additional required work or any delays to ensure customers are kept informed.
  • Assists service advisors with writing work orders, conducting test rides, and customer interactions to ensure satisfaction.
  • Completes and files all necessary paperwork after each job.
  • Stays current with technical qualifications through required training.
  • Ensures vehicles are returned cleaner than when received.
  • Thoroughly completes each job to minimize return repairs and efficiently handles any additional work.
  • Provides reliable service to all customers, both external and internal.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area, contributing to overall shop cleanliness.
  • Performs duties safely, reporting any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Arrives on time for scheduled work, prepared to perform essential job functions.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years’ hands-on experience in a technician or mechanic role within the automotive industry.
  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • ASE certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Proven capacity to quickly learn new technologies and processes and adapt to changes.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to propose innovative solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail when following oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks, organize workload efficiently, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience collaborating in team settings and working towards shared objectives.
  • Clear evidence of prioritizing safety in the workplace.
  • Basic proficiency in English.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills, including web browsers and common software applications.
